Mr. Zanger's Teaching
I was born in Quincy on April 5, 1977. I grew up in Payson and graduated from high school from Payson Seymour High School. I went to college at John Wood Community College for two years and then transferred to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) where I graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1999. I moved back to Payson and began substitute teaching in Quincy while working on a Master's degree in Elementary Education. In the fall of 2001 I started my teaching career at Payson Seymour Junior High School. The summer of 2008 was when I was hired and began teaching for the Unity School District. I have taught many courses and subjects in my career including 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade math, 8th grade math , 8th grade social studies, PE, Algebra I, and Algebra II. I have taught in many buildings and I truly believe that Unity Elementary is the best place to teach. In 2016 I began my study in administrative certification.
Mr. Zanger's Family
I was married to my wife Joy (who teaches Language Arts in the Mendon Middle School) in 2007. I have five children with Allison being the oldest, then Kayleigh, Micah, Savannah, and Garrett. We have lived in the country on five acres just outside of Payson since 2001. I enjoy watching my children play sports, traveling, hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, golfing, and following Cardinal baseball.
The extended Zanger family also owns a real estate company known as Zanger & Associates. In 2010 I decided to join Zanger & Associates and began selling real estate in addition to teaching. I was a top seller in our office in 2012 and I enjoyed helping individuals find their dream home. In 2016 I retired my real estate license and began my pursuit of principal certification. Zanger & Associates has been in business for over 50 years.
