August 21st- Friday and we made it through our first week. Each day I feel like we are getting closer to a normal day as we slowly start to work into a routine. Today they all checked in with me on their reading. Parents you can check your child's progress through the AR link on the home page. MY GOAL is to write down the students score in their planner when they finish an AR test. I have done this for a few but not consistently with everyone but I like this idea. Your child can read more than what is assigned but they must read the minimum given to them. Some are shorter books and you may have them read the book again to you for checking their understanding and fluency. For spelling they did a word search and this is homework if not already done. For math we began our first lesson with place value. We did one side of the paper together and they had to complete the other side after we did several examples from their book. August 19th - Sorry so late posting tonight. I usually post right after school. Today I was able to meet with students and assign them a book or pages to read for their reading assignment. If it is a small book you can have them read to you. If it is a chapter book you may just ask them some questions from what they read. For spelling I handed out their spelling list and they wrote their spelling words 3x each. These are the only two assignments they have for Wednesday.

August 18th - Our first day of school went great! I took a photo of all of us outside and it is now on our home page. We organized our supplies and began to work on our data notebooks. In the morning they went through stations for PBIS (school building rules.) We had a great day and the only homework they have is to show parents their planners and have parents sign it.
